“Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer - and often the supreme disappointment.”

-Ansel Adams

Landscape and nature photography has long been an escape and a way for me to reset myself mentally and emotionally. Spending quiet moments in nature has had a tremendously positive effect on me over the years. I strive to make impactful and emotional photographs with a strong sense of place and moment.

I have been involved in landscape photography for around 20 years. I learned on black and white film back in 2003 and made the transition to digital and have always had it as an outlet in some form. I started taking it more seriously around 2012 when I moved to Northern California and was surrounded by so many beautiful places I used to visit growing up. Growing up in San Diego, we made long drives to Yosemite, the eastern Sierra, and other public lands to experience nature as a family. I always loved that and always had a knack for art and music, so landscape photography has been a natural outlet for me.

In 2019 I started my own YouTube channel that you can find here. I make content for that channel documenting my photography adventures and showcasing the stories behind the images I capture. It has given me another way to showcase my photography and adds more depth to the images themselves. Please take a look if you haven’t yet!

I take artistic liberties with my work but always strive to make them tasteful with a compelling composition. I hope you enjoy my galleries and find connection with them as I did, in the moment. If you see me out on the trail, don’t hesitate to say hello!

Safe Travels,

Jared
